Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year | Review 2011

Dear friends and partners,

what a successful and exciting year 2011 for the GmbH!
Originally started as a pure 3-D and virtual worlds agency, we are designing now social media and traditional web sites more and more. But in addition to Web design, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Web development with CMS like Drupal, Joomla, WordPress and Typo3, Scrum has become the star for 2011.

In February 2012 I will even attend a Scrum seminar in the U.S. and I will get a certification by the inventor of the time and project management system, Jeffrey V. Sutherland, as a Scrum Master. In 2012, I plan to give Scrum courses in Berlin and also online. We have already specialized the use of Scrum for small businesses, associations, groups and individuals in this year. The motto is: Scrum your life aka Scrum YOU!

Serious Gaming: Besides newBERLIN in Second Life, OpenSim still plays a major role in our concept.
Although Open Berlin is still in closed beta, we can proudly report that our VOCABULARYTRAINERin3D just said ‘Hello’ to the Serious Games 3-D world.
The 3-D educational game is designed for elementary schools and provides a funny, interactive software to learn English vocabulary. It is also a great tool for eye-hand coordination training based on a virtual 3-D environment, in addition.

3-D printing and rapid prototyping: In early 2011, we purchased the Rapman 3.1, an additive 3-D printer by BfB, to print 3-D files in ABS or PLA. What started as a small sideline, has become our daily business very soon. Next year, we also expect to have access to a Zprinter. Thus, we can offer complex prints out of more materials.
In addition, I am proud to say that we have recently become business partner of the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Micro Integration (IZM). Thus, we work with one of the most prestigious institutions in Germany and we are able to offer our skills and abilities in relation to 3-D design, prototyping and 3-D printing to them, from now on.

Finally, I want to note that I gave guest a lecture at the Fraunhofer IFF in November. The lecture series was called „Virtual Reality – Human and Machine in interactive dialogue“ and the lecture will be published soon.

The entire GmbH team and I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Sincerly yours,
Jan Northoff
